Fly Tying Streamers For Trout
Beginner Classes
Intermediate Classes
Class Code: 3024
Professor: Chancellor Steve
Skill Level: Advanced
Syllabus:
Fly tyers will learn the basics of tying several of the most popular and effective streamer fly patterns for trout.
Course Content:
Following is a series of videos for tying some of the most effective generic streamers for trout. However, it is important to understand that these generic dry flies only approximate the appearance of the actual insects in the stream. This is important! You will catch more trout by specifically duplicating the actual insects. Check out our Perfect Fly brand of flies in our Store to find specific flies that imitate specific insects, and information on how and where to fish them for maximum success. To learn to tie your own perfect flies, order some from our store and use them as patterns for your own flies. Also, check out our Fly Tying DVD for tying perfect mayfly patterns, and see our entire lineup of Fly Fishing DVD's for additional information on imitating aquatic insects, basic trout fishing topics, and more!
We begin with a link to our Top 5 Trout Streamers (including a bonus #6), which include the Sculpin (this one is available in our Store), Wooly bugger, Muddler Minnow, Marabou Streamer, and Black Nosed Dace,
Mickey Finn
Clouser Minnow
Lefty's Deceiver
Black Ghost Marabou
Zonker
Green Weenie
Egg Sucking Leech
Bucktail Streamer
Gray Ghost
Muddler Matuka
Flash Fly
For additional fly tying information, check out the following DVD's:
Assignments:
Tie one of each of the above streamers, and be ready for anything the next time you hit the water.
Extra Credit:
Develop your own special versions of the streamers, by adding different materials to the flies, and testing their effectiveness.
