When the Rocky River Chapter of Trout Unlimited, invited me to join the Davidson Day School students and their teacher Vickie Carbone, as they released about 100 Rainbow trout, I was excited. They received trout eggs in November and raised them to fingerling size for release in the Jacobs Fork River in the South Mountains State Park in North Carolina.
Ranger Rogers Greeting Students
Bill & Jim Transporting Trout
Students Saying Goodbye
Ranger Alan Rogers greeted the students with a smile and a wave, then we took off for the stream with Jim Mabry and Bill Thomas lugging the trout. The Students had all written an ode, and what poetic talent they displayed, to their own fish with names like Ricky, Dimitri, etc. Almost all of the students wanted their fish to find a good wife!
Then it was time for Vickie to round them up for their final ride...
Now, it time for the release and the final goodbyes...................
